Lauren Walsh
Documentary Photographer
Lauren Walsh is a professor at New York University and the Director of the Gallatin Photojournalism Intensive and Lost Rolls America, a national photography archive. In 2023, she was named a Fulbright Specialist in Photography and Ethics. Her recent book is Through the Lens: The Pandemic and Black Lives Matter (2022), with other notable works including Conversations on Conflict Photography (2019) and Shadow of Memory (2021). Walsh co-directs the documentary Biography of a Photo, focusing on iconic photographs of conflict, and leads media literacy initiatives globally, emphasizing ethical practices and safety for journalists. She has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from NYU and has published extensively in both mainstream and academic outlets, contributing to discussions on the politics of photography and contemporary visual culture.
