
Janette Beckman

British-born photographer Janette Beckman began her career in the punk rock scene, working for music magazines like The Face and Melody Maker while shooting iconic bands such as The Clash and Boy George. In 1983, she moved to New York City, where she documented pioneers of hip-hop including Run DMC and LL Cool J. Her work has been showcased in galleries worldwide and is part of collections at the Smithsonian and the British National Portrait Gallery. Beckman has published five books, including 'The Mash Up' and her monograph 'Rebels: From Punk to Dior.' She continues to chronicle subcultures and works with clients like Levi's, Apple, and Dior, and is represented by the Fahey Klein Gallery in Los Angeles.
