Cristina “Mitty” Mittermeier is a renowned conservationist and photographer who believes powerful visual storytelling can drive urgent action to protect our oceans and heal the planet. Trained as a marine biologist in Mexico, she founded the International League of Conservation Photographers in 2005 and co-founded SeaLegacy in 2014 to unite storytellers, scientists, and policymakers for impactful ocean conservation. A Sony Artisan of Imagery and recognized as one of National Geographic’s Adventurers of the Year in 2018, she advocates for environmental investment and has received numerous accolades, including an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University in 2022. Mittermeier has exhibited her work globally and starred in "Photographer" on National Geographic/Disney+, further amplifying her commitment to immersive visual storytelling.
